Hawks nab suspected dealer with drugs worth R500 000
A SUSPECTED drug dealer is due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court today on a drug dealing charge after he was arrested with drugs worth half a million.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said that on Friday, Hawks officers from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 34-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs at Phoenix.
Mhlongo said officers received information about drug dealing activities at Tashmeera Gardens in Phoenix.
He said an operation was planned and executed in the said flats.
“Upon searching the premises, mandrax tablets and heroin capsules with a street value of approximately R506 900 were found.
“The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with dealing drugs,” Mhlongo said.
He said the suspect is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court today on a drug dealing charge.
