New ANC combinations don’t inspire confidence

- SITHOLE CHAIRMAN NATHI DENNIS

Bhejani Chauke knows very well that he manipulated processes during nominations. He used money that he was given to push Cyril Ramaphosa’s name. He paired his name with Ramaphosa’s and got himself nominated. |

Lindiwe Sisulu is an accident waiting to happen. The ANC’S new combinations do nothing to inspire confidence in a possible new regime. Out with the old and in with the new is not going to be the answer here.

The ANC now realises that in under six years, it will be out of power. They know in 2024 that both provincial and national elections won’t be won by majority vote. So now they’re making sure that money or public funds is used – just like the apartheid government did – doing useless projects. I would not be surprised that from the R11 million, R4m was used for that airport. The rest has gone to people’s bank accounts and under the mattress. | LUCKY BUTHELEZI

ODDS & ENDS

Oh wow, he (Sboniso Duma) deserves a medal. Imagine he thinks the children of today do not know what a plane or an airport looks like?

What “trust” he has in the schooling system and what children are taught. Maybe his phone also does not have access to the internet like every child’s phone. But, let’s give him credit because at least they can still see planes in the air. I wonder if any one of his prospective youth has seen a real train on the tracks? |

ANEL EN MANIE DU PREEZ

Janusz Walus was correctly granted parole after numerous futile attempts. The unanimous Constitutional Court decision was correct in interpreting and applying the law. Walus qualified for parole 17 years ago and many convicted murderers like Walus have since been granted parole. The tripartite alliance must accept the court decision without emotions and refrain from subjective application of the law.

After all, Walus is a murderer like any other, irrespective of who the victim was. | ANONYMOUS

Have the owners been arrested? Confiscating the pit bulls is not enough. The owners should be arrested for killing, whether with or without intent they have killed someone. I am tired of reckless and irresponsible dog owners, and the law is quiet. | PELELA LAMANI

ESKOM

People leave jobs for better opportunities – no need to racialise it. I do not know how you have experienced the working environment. There are competent black people working at Eskom. |

The problem is that every efficient manager or worker has to carry the load of six unionised slackers, which leads to burnout. Get rid of the slackers and saboteurs. |

Politically influenced appointments and corruption are the elephants in the room, hence the collapse of the utility and the rest of the SOES (state-owned enterprises). | MAGGIE RAKUBA

It's not Sharks coach Sean Everitt’s fault. There are too many bosses at the Sharks. | MARK
