Murder accused sought after absconding
WARRANTS of arrest have been issued for murder accused Siyanda Shezi, 22, and Sbonelo Khoza, 25, who failed to arrive at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
They allegedly shot and killed Mthembiseni Zondi, 32, in Klaarwater, near Mariannhill, in April.
Shezi and Khoza were out on R3000 bail each and failed to attend court on two occasions.
Their first court appearance was on June 30.
They were arrested for murder while at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court to apply for bail for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Yesterday, State prosecutor Nomcebo Xulu made an application for the warrant authorised two weeks ago to be executed and the men’s R3 000 to be forfeited to the State.
T Ramkissoon, the Legal Aid attorney for both men, said she had no instruction from either client and was not aware of their whereabouts.
Ramkissoon then moved to submit an application to withdraw as the men’s legal representative.
“The warrant of arrest authorised previously on November 14 stays and bail is forfeited to the State,” ordered magistrate Wendalynn Robinson.
