Hold CR accountable or rot in SA will only deepen

-

NIGERIAN ELECTIONS

Democracy is a strange concept for Nigeria: don’t be surprised if they resort to what they are used to shortly: military rule again. Ten steps forward and 70 steps back like only they can.

| HENDRICK SHIMANE MOKITLE

This Nigerian election was shameful and marred by blatant vote rigging. The Western media keeps quiet when rigging favours Western interests. Bola Tinubu is 70. Nigeria will break apart.

POLITICS

Cyril Ramaphosa also missed an opportunity as deputy president when he did not report (Jacob) Zuma and the Gupta brothers.

| PATRICK

As leader of SA, Ramaphosa must be held accountable for the Phala Phala saga. Only then, can anyone be accountable for corruption, or else all other investigations will be fruitless as no one will be prosecuted. The rot will continue.

| SAGIE

When an SOE, on instruction from the ANC, replaces competent staff with people who tick all the demographic boxes only, naturally these SOES will fall apart. When colour trumps merit, this is the result.

| CHRISTOPHER REYNOLDS

Former Eskom CEO De Ruyter should be charged as an accessory to the charges since he had knowledge of the alleged corruption but never disclosed it.

| GLORIA ARENDSE ANDIPATIN

Instead of bailing out Eskom all the time, use the bailout money for alternative energy.

ETHEKWINI

I have been with the ethekwini Municipality for decades. No contractors worked on behalf of the municipality. All work was done in-house with total efficiency. What are all the staff doing now? Now we have contractors for roads, verges, litter, crime … Where is our mayor/ municipal manager?

ODDS AND ENDS

Why recruit employed SAPS members earning a salary? The (municipal) police should be employing unemployed people and graduates.

It is still early for you to participate in CAF Champions League, Amakhosi. You are coming from unfavourable seasons, and in a rebuilding stage. Don’t pressurise yourselves by the CAF Champions League or else you will get frustrated by many losses or injuries with inexperienced youngsters. Playing there should be just a bonus, at least for now.

| SIYABULELA NOMABHUNGA

As things stand in the PSL, any team can be relegated, except Sundowns. Kaizer Chiefs must not think of the CAF Champions League yet as they are fighting relegation. Look, Maritzburg United is last with 21 points from 22 games and eight games left. Supersport is 2nd with 36 points. Maritzburg can still finish at 45 points. 21+24=45. So there’s still danger for all teams. If Maritzburg win all eight games, they’ll get 24 points extra.

| SOLLY HASANI

What has happened to all the money spent on a team that can’t cross the line when the opposition only has 13 men on the field? Sad story of the B team. Sharks have no depth.

| JULIAN THOMPSON

The Sharks are just like the Bulls – both could not beat the Stormers in two seasons. The Stormers did this with mostly up and coming youngsters. The Sharks are going to lose some players; Siya Kolisi is not the only one. The ones left behind are on the wrong side of 30 while the Stormers youngsters will just get better.
