In an unrelated incident this year, a father was killed when he tried to save his child from being run over by a car.

At the time of the incident, ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said a father was killed and his child injured after an accident on Kenyon Howden Road in Montclair.

Jamieson said it is believed that the father, in his thirties, was trying to save his child from being struck by a motor vehicle.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the man but he was declared deceased at the scene.

Jamieson said the child, believed to be two-years-old, was moderably injured and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to hospital.
