Councillors should take pride in their respective wards

-

THE entire city of Durban is in a total mess. Councillors should be given temporary staff to clean up all garbage on verges dumped by communities in their respective wards.

These councillors earn a sizeable salary just to report complaints from residents. This is an opportunity for councillors to stand up and take pride in their respective wards. | ASHWIN

These tariff increases will lead to poverty. People who are employed are suffering to make ends meet. What will happen to the millions who are unemployed? Service delivery is non-existent. We are hit with load shedding, water cuts for days, and recently the municipality was on strike. We had to pay for private removal of bin bags.

Our roads, parks, playgrounds are in a terrible state. There should be a vote of no confidence in the municipality. In spite of not providing services, they are asking for an increase in tariffs. Which comic book do they come from? | DAVID MALAKI

When there is an emergency in

Durban, those who run emergency medical services run it like a spaza shop. They do not care about the public whether they get ambulances or not. Even if there are ambulances that are working with no drivers, they don’t call overtime. I do not want to talk about the shortage of ambulance equipment. This service is a circus. | UNKNOWN

Mayor Kaunda, what if you had to live out of buckets, 5-litre bottles at your doorstep, Jojo tanks and boreholes – could you live this life? Shame on you. We are dragged down the gutters by your ruling. Please resign. | SHEILA

RE: Ambulance services at RK Khan Hospital, I think Wesbank should comment on this as they are the reason for the shortage of state resources. They have these bullying tactics where they want to control this contract like Mafias. Go around all the districts to see the corruption. | TOKOLOSH
