Scout leader and author dies
THE South African scouts fraternity is mourning the death of 4th Durban St Thomas Scouts group leader and author Janet Prest Talbot, a Glenwood resident, who died yesterday, aged 59.
Pat Brown, the SA Scouts district commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, said the news came as a shock and would be a big loss to the scouts she had mentored for several years.
“She was enthusiastic about the development of youth in the province. She passed on her desire and passion for scouting and the outdoors to the children. She was very dedicated.”
Robert Meij, 4th Durban St Thomas group chairman, said Talbot “had a huge impact on the children that joined the scout group over the years”.
He said funeral details were still being arranged by the family.
