Designed for living

Technology has given us an array of very cool gadgets and devices – but ingenuity is only half the appeal. These offerings need to fit our lifestyles and look good too. Here are some new devices which tick all those boxes

The Modular 45 perfectly balances the techno-savvy of a smartwatch with the functionality and aesthetics of a great timepiece. Truly “pwiss Made”I it has an AMliEa touch-screen that is scratch-resistant and a healthy serving of apps that can be downloaded to the watchI including Maps and rber to go with its dPp capability. thile it runs Android lpI you can also pair up with an ilp deviceI although that will render you unable to reply to emailsI textsI etc. that makes it appealing is its truly modular nature. fn terms of faceI it looks like a proper timepiece and there’s a facility to either select from or create over 1 000 different faces. vou can change an array of elementsI including the braceletsI connected models and even the lugs. that’s moreI if you’d prefer a mechanical timepieceI simply click the two buttons on the back.

Those who love in-ear headphones don’t have to settle for whatever comes with their smartphone. If there’s one thing Klipsch does exceptionally well, it’s audio and the X20i is truly worthy of bearing the brand’s name. Made of stainless steel with three-button remote and mic, the sound’s perfectly balanced as a result of the two-way dual armature design, KG-926T woofer and KG-125B super-tweeter.

This collaboration between Porsche Design and Huawei has produced a smartphone that’s as attractive as it’s functional. Available only in black, it has a 6” 2K curved OLED screen, a 3D curved glass body and dual SLS speakers with Dolby Atmos. I’ve always loved the convenience of the fingerprint scanner on the back of Huawei smartphones, but this one has an additional scanner in the screen itself.

Then there’s a 40MP Leica triple camera. Huawei’s partnership with Leica has enabled it to create some wonderful innovations, driven by Master AI, which helps you take great pictures, such as image stabilisation. It also has an AI processor, which is said to ensure that the device learns from the way you use it. Quick wireless charge, 256GB internal storage, splash-, water- and dust-resistance with accessories inspired by Porsche make the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS not just a toy, but a powerful smartphone.
