Which skills are im­por­tant for your job?

Quick think­ing – the in­dus­try I work in is fast­paced and dy­namic, so you need to adapt to changes rapidly in or­der to re­main rel­e­vant. It’s im­por­tant to con­tin­u­ally keep up with the lat­est in­dus­try trends.

What’s the best skin­care ad­vice you’ve ever re­ceived? Never fail to wash your make-up off each night, no mat­ter how tired you are, and ex­fo­li­ate twice a week. It re­ally makes a dif­fer­ence. Also use mois­turiser every sin­gle day and night: wrin­kles don’t like hy­drated skin!

What’s the most over­looked as­pect of your in­dus­try? The beauty in­dus­try is more di­verse than peo­ple think. With global trends shift­ing to on­line, beauty brands have an op­por­tu­nity to build cred­i­bil­ity by tap­ping into en­ter­tain­ing and ed­u­ca­tional con­tent. E-com­merce is huge, with more and more con­sumers want­ing dig­i­tal ex­pe­ri­ences. They can now get al­most any­thing they want on­line, as well as per­sonal rec­om­men­da­tions and prod­uct tri­als. The dig­i­tal mar­ket is a lot eas­ier and less time-con­sum­ing.

What’s your idea of the per­fect din­ner party?

A view of Jo’burg’s city lights in a re­laxed, cosy at­mos­phere that’s dif­fer­ent from my ev­ery­day space, with can­dles.
