Destiny - - Leisure guide -

Get into the Christmas spirit with The Grinch, based on Dr Seuss’s classic tale. Benedict Cumberbatch voices the eponymous character, who lives inside a cave on Mt Crumpet with only his loyal dog, Max, for company. This embittered grump is determined to steal Christmas, but has a change of heart sparked by a young girl’s generous festive spirit. A highly entertaining, heartwarming movie with much to teach young viewers. Release date: 7 December 2018.

The much-anticipated Bumblebee, a spin-off of the blockbuster Transformer franchise, hits theatres this month. This prequel to the popular film franchise is set in the late Eighties and relates the adventures of Bumblebee after his arrival on earth. The yellow Autobot takes refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian town. There he meets Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), who soon discovers that this is no ordinary VW bug. Fans of the series will enjoy the return of the characters featured in the original animated series and first-generation toy line.

Release date: 21 December 2018.

Even if you’re not into super-hero movies, don’t miss Aquaman, starring the mega-hunky Jason Momoa. He plays Arthur Curry, the ruler of Atlantis and King of the Seven Seas, who’s forced to choose between his loyalties to the surface world and his undersea kingdom, as the angry Atlanteans are planning to revolt against the humans polluting the oceans. This bigbudget release is sure to be visually mesmerising (and not just because of a ripped, imposing and shirtless Moma!).

Release date: 21 December 2018.
