KIMBERLEY The Acting Premier of the Northern Cape, Grizelda Cjiekella, will host the National Skills Authority Consultative workshop at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre today and tomorrow from at 8.30am.
The workshop will address post-education skills training and needs in the Province. The Department of Higher Education and the chairperson of the National Skills Authority as well as various provincial stakeholders will attend the workshop. RICHTERSVELD South African National Parks (SANParks) have issued an urgent warning that roads leading into the Ai-Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park from Namibia have been closed due to recent heavy rains.
The roads that have been closed due to flooding include the Orangemund road, Rosh Pinah road, Ai-Ais road and Noordoewer road. SANParks’ acting regional communications manager for the arid region, Gabrielle Venter, advised road users to exercise caution and use alternative roads in the meantime.

Valerie Faith (Val) Bauser, wife of former Kimberley Mayor, Ronnie Bauser, died in Kimberley on Monday morning.
Born on August 26 1927, Bauser grew up in Klerksdorp and met her future husband while she was undergoing maternity training in Kimberley. The couple was married on September 20 1953 and had three children, Reunert, Karen and Jerome.
Bauser worked as a maternity sister at the then Kimberley Maternity Home for many years. She was a keen sportswoman, especially tennis and hockey. She played hockey for Western Transvaal and represented the district in two national hockey tournaments.
She leaves her husband, Ronnie, who is still a city councillor, her children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
