Dubai plans f or Snaith duo

- MICHAEL CLOWER

JUSTIN Snaith is to send his Cape Town classic winners In The Fast Lane and Legislate to race at next year’s Dubai Carnival.

He said: “We haven’t finalised everything yet but the plan is for them to go to Durban and run there for much of Champions Season before going into quarantine. They will go to Dubai via Mauritius and the UK.”

The record-breaking trainer has had to battle to hold on to a number of the big names in his string with approaches from other yards being made for several.

He said: “Fortunately I have managed to fend off these vultures and so we will have a full team going to Durban. I have 23 boxes at Clairwood, as last year, and it’s all systems go for a big Durban season. All I need now are some decent draws.”

Run For It, beaten only a quarter of a length in last season’s Vodacom Durban July, is being brought along carefully in preparation for another assault on the great race after having operations on his front fetlocks.

Snaith said: “Both fetlocks are now cleaned up and at the moment he is with Mike Stewart walking in the sea water each day but he will be ready for Durban, while Jet Explorer (fifth in last year’s July) is also on target after putting behind him the injury he suffered at the J & B Met gallops.

“However the one to watch in Durban could be Readytogorightnow who won last year’s Oceanfresh Winter Classic. He is doing very well and he could easily be my horse for the season.”
