Killers get 13 years

TWO GALESHEWE men yes­ter­day each re­ceived a 13-year jail sen­tence for mur­der, rob­bery and house­break­ing.

Lesedi Guys, 22, and Thabo Ruwana, 19, were each sen­tenced to 10 years for the mur­der of Isaac Molupe, 56, and an ad­di­tional two years for rob­bery and one year for house­break­ing. The sen­tences will run con­cur­rently.

Po­lice spokesman, Lieu­tenant Ser­gio Kock, said Molupe was walk­ing home from a friend’s house at ap­prox­i­mately 5.20am on De­cem­ber 1 2012.

“Guys and Ruwana as­saulted Molupe be­fore tak­ing off with the keys to his house in Num­ber Five, Galeshewe,” said Kock.

“Molupe made his way home and found the two ran­sack­ing his home. When the sus­pect en­tered the house he was fa­tally stabbed.”

The ac­cused were ar­rested a few days af­ter the in­ci­dent and po­lice re­cov­ered a tele­vi­sion, a ra­dio and some clothes which be­longed to the de­ceased.”

Galeshewe Clus­ter Com­man­der, Ma­jor-Gen­eral Kolie Matthys, ap­plauded the in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer, De­tec­tive War­rant Of­fi­cer At­tie Brow­ers from the Galeshewe De­tec­tive Unit, for a job well done and said he hoped the sen­tenc­ing will serve as a de­ter­rent to oth­ers who con­sid­ered com­mit­ting sim­i­lar crimes.
