Killers get 13 years
TWO GALESHEWE men yesterday each received a 13-year jail sentence for murder, robbery and housebreaking.
Lesedi Guys, 22, and Thabo Ruwana, 19, were each sentenced to 10 years for the murder of Isaac Molupe, 56, and an additional two years for robbery and one year for housebreaking. The sentences will run concurrently.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant Sergio Kock, said Molupe was walking home from a friend’s house at approximately 5.20am on December 1 2012.
“Guys and Ruwana assaulted Molupe before taking off with the keys to his house in Number Five, Galeshewe,” said Kock.
“Molupe made his way home and found the two ransacking his home. When the suspect entered the house he was fatally stabbed.”
The accused were arrested a few days after the incident and police recovered a television, a radio and some clothes which belonged to the deceased.”
Galeshewe Cluster Commander, Major-General Kolie Matthys, applauded the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Attie Browers from the Galeshewe Detective Unit, for a job well done and said he hoped the sentencing will serve as a deterrent to others who considered committing similar crimes.
