WANTED: RAPE SUSPECT

-

POLICE have released an identikit of the suspect who allegedly raped a Kimberley woman with a broken glass bottle earlier this week.

The 36-year-old woman was admitted to the Kimberley Hospital after being raped in Gemdene, Kimberley on Monday morning, between 9am and 10am.

It is believed that the woman was walking near Barkly Road when an unknown man grabbed her and dragged her into an overgrown veld in Gemdene. The suspect apparently threatened to kill her with a knife, before raping her.

During the rape the woman apparently tried to defend herself and poked the suspect in his eye during the struggle, injuring him.

This apparently upset the suspect and he is believed to have shoved a broken beer bottle inside her before fleeing.

The woman made her way to a nearby business premises, where the shocked staff contacted the police.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock, confirmed that police are investigating a case of rape.

Kock yesterday released an identikit photo of the suspect and called on anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the police.

“The unknown male suspect is dark in complexion, well built and could possibly have sustained an injury to his right eye during the struggle with the victim. He was wearing brown pants, a cream T-shirt, a green bucket-hat and spoke Tswana. Anyone with information regarding the incident must please call Detective Sergeant Charlotte Mokgari on 072 600 8206 or 082 302 0468,” Kock said.
