Do the right thing

-

IT’S been a roller-coaster ride this year. While it has been entertaining, we will know by the end of the weekend if the rollercoaster ride will continue.

We will know by end of the weekend, who will lead our country for the next few years – provided delegates do not resort to the courts – AGAIN.

Whoever this person may be – either Cyril Ramaphosa or Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma – will have their work cut out for them.

It’s not like President Jacob Zuma is leaving a major legacy or anything like that, but they will have to hit the ground running.

Not only will they be tasked with sorting out the elephant in the room – the economy – but they will also have to heal the wounds caused by the blood-letting in the ruling party.

Looking at it from the sidelines, it has been horrific to watch.

The very people who stood be looked at.

At the end of the day, the question begs to be asked ... is it just about you?

History has shown that, that seems to be the obvious conclusion which is drawn.

Everybody wants to jump on the gravy train and get (take) the most they possibly can.

I honestly hope that this time will be different. That delegates will vote for the best person who can take us out of this quagmire we find ourselves in.

On behalf of all South Africans, I implore delegates to do the right thing – don’t sell your vote to the highest bidder.

To the new leader, I implore you to seriously hit the ground running, stamp out corruption and fraud.

Help make South Africa the country you were willing to give your life for.

The ride has been entertaining, but it’s time to stop the rollercoaster and rebuild our country.
