Businessman’s attorney withdraws
THE CASE against local businessman Neo Sediti, 35, was postponed in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court yesterday after his attorney Mark Fletcher, withdrew his services.
Sediti is facing charges of intimidation and harassment, where he allegedly threatened to kill his estranged wife and contravening a protection order that was obtained in 2014 and later amended in 2017.
The charges relate to an incident that took place on January 28 at about 2.45am, when the accused allegedly contacted the complainant, Lucinda Sediti, while she was standing with friends outside Samy’s Wholesalers.
He apparently interrogated her and demanded that she reveal the identities of the men who had accompanied her and later threatened to kill her as well as the men with whom she was conversing with.
She requested the police to escort her home, where they found the accused waiting for her.
The complainant had previously told the court that the accused was in possession of a set of the spare keys to her car and that she had, on one occasion, found him hiding in the boot.
Sediti appeared briefly in court yesterday where the magistrate, Dolly Mokoto, postponed the matter to April 19, to allow him an opportunity to find another legal representative.
His bail was extended until his next court appearance.
The accused, who is the majority shareholder of Sediti Closed Corporation, was granted bail of R6 000 on February 4 and is currently living with his parents for the duration of the trial.
