Blues star back to rock city
SOUTH African-born blues artist Dan Patlansky will be returning to Kimberley after his first UK tour.
The world-renowned guitarist, singer/songwriter and globally-respected blues artist will be showcasing hits from his new album, Perfection Kills, at The Occidental Bar tomorrow at 6pm.
“I always enjoy playing in Kimberley. I have played there various times throughout my career. It always has a great energy. I look forward to returning,” said Patlansky.
With only 10 years in the music industry, Patlansky is one of the busiest blues artist to ever come from South Africa.
Patlansky was selected by the legendary Satriana as a special guest on the European and UK legs of his Shockwave Tour in 2015, taking in 25 shows across 10 countries.
His latest offering, Perfection Kills, was released worldwide on February 2 and has since received international praise from critics, including Maximum Volume Music saying: “Perfection Kills is the sound of no one answering to anyone but themselves and Patlansky has arguably never sounded better”.
Blues Rock Review added: “Sustaining the success Patlansky has reached with his previous two albums is a difficult task but Perfection Kills does just that, Perfection Kills is right up there with Dan’s best work.”
Perfection Kills is Patlansky’s follow-up to 2016’s critically acclaimed “Introvertigo”, which was voted number 1 Blues Rock Album in the world by Blues Rock Review USA.
The elated Patlansky said, “I wanted to make an album that represented my sound live or closer to it than my previous albums. We left all the rough edges and didn’t over process anything. Result: a more organic sounding record.”
He added, “My Kimberley fans can expect a full band electric show. I’ll be launching my new album Perfection Kills, but I will also be playing a lot of stuff from my previous records.”
His show will also focus on putting local talent such as Stuart Milne and mutli-talented singer/ songwriter and guitarist Marius Kruger on the stage as opening acts.
With 20 years of guitar playing experience, Kruger has left many crowds pleasantly surprised and wanting more.
