Golf and rugby meet at the KGC

A TOTAL of 17 players took part in the Saturday Diamond Sub Union outing in which Freddie du Plessis (75 gross) and Pieter Botes (78 gross) returned the top scores on the day.

Three players returned 41 points, the top score, in the KGC Saturday IPS. The count-out placed Wade King first, Mietie Aysen second and Nico Ross third. Venetia Salo was fourth on 39 points.

En route to the Nationals nine visiting EP Seniors joined the local Seniors for the April outing on Saturday. David Reed and Nico Ross were first, Eddie Harris and Johnnie Cloete second and Dave McIntosh and Wedge Crozier were third.

Friday’s Crown National Tafel Lager Griqua Golf Day which incorporat­ed the Tafel Lager Griqua Kit Launch saw 132 players tee up on the day.

A betterball played from a scramble drive 50 points was the winning score, W Swarts and S while Jakes Jacobs returned an eight-pointer on the opening hole.

Adrian McLaren and Stef Le Roux posted the top team score, 43 betterball points and the better count-out, to win the Wednesday’s Konica Minolta Business League outing.

OJ Maimane and Deuce Leburu were the runners-up on the same score, the count-out one point less. Barend Burger and Gavin Schafer were third on 42 points.

In the individual section it was Gary Hepburn first on 41 points, OJ Maimane second on 40 points and Adrian McLaren third on 37 points.

THE COMING WEEK

Today it is the Leon’s House of Liquor IPS, followed tomorrow with the KWV Niner.

On Friday the Club hosts the annual NOCCI Golf Day, a major corporate golf occasion on the annual calendar.

On Saturday it is the Floors Gymnastic Golf Day, while Sunday sees round three of the Sealing Solutions League, the format individual match-play.
