Bumper turnout for weekend church fund-raiser at the KGC

ALMOST 90 players participated in the Trinity Methodist Church golf fund-raiser on Saturday.

Parks Mashabao and Marumo Setlhare returned the top score, 48 betterball points. Three betterballs followed on 46 points – Allan Grootboom and Bernie Turton, Flex Rantoa and Ronnie Engelbrecht and Donald Whitebooi and Venetia Salo.

A further three fourballs returned 45 points – Mpho Mogale and Connie Molusi, Johnny

Higgs and Frits van Dyk and Henk Visser and Bennie Claasen.

The four nearest the pins were won by Frikkie Norman, Kevin Antill, Ysuf Kana and Bennie Claasen.

A gross 34 had Andries Kori post a winning 20 points in the Friday Sun Flamingo Niner. Four players followed on 19 points – Fazel Adams, Donald Whitebooi, Luchmen Poonawassy and Ronnie Engelbrecht.

The bumper bonus prize was won by Wade King on 18 points.

Evan Painting carded a one over par gross 37 along with a big six on the final hole for 27 points and the better count-out to win the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner. The runner-up on a similar score, Kevin Wakeford, carded a gross 39 that also included a big six on the final hole.

Luchmen Poonawassy posted a six pointer and an eight pointer to return 25 points for third place.

Barrie van Zyl posted 40 individual stableford points to pip the field by a shot in the Wednesday Darsha Insurance Brokers monthly competition. Gavin van Zyl was the runner-up on 39 points. Peter Jansen (38) and Mike Vigne (37) were third and fourth.

THE COMING WEEK

It is the Konica Minolta monthly Business League on Wednesday, betterball and IPS scores to count. On Thursday it is National Women’s Day and by tradition the Ladies Section host their annual golf fund-raiser, the format a BBS played from a scramble drive.

On Friday it is the Sun Flamingo Niner along with the snowball draw. The SPCA host their annual golf fund-raiser on Saturday.
