Municipal pools, resorts open over festive season

WITH sizzling hot temperatures in the city set to continue, municipal swimming pools and pleasure resorts will be open throughout the festive season.

Municipal spokesperson, Sello Matsie, said yesterday that swimming pools, including Karen Muir, Galeshewe and Roodepan will be open every day from 10am until 6pm, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, when they will be closed.

Pleasure resorts managed by the Sol Plaatje Municipality will be open every day throughout the festive season.

“While no day visitors are permitted at Rekaofela, the resort will be open for those who have booked accommodation. Check in is at 3pm and check out at 11am the following day,” he said.

Langleg and Riverton will be accessible to the public from 6am until 6pm for day visitors throughout the festive season. Those overnighting can check in at 3pm and check out at 11am the following day.

Transka Pleasure Resort will be accessible for day visitors form 6am until 6pm, while check in is at 3pm and check out at 11am the following day.

According to the SA Weather Service, temperatures in the high thirties, with little chance of rain, can be expected in the city. On Christmas Day (Tuesday) a high of 37 degrees C is forecast, while on Boxing Day the thermometer is expected to rise even higher to 38 degrees C.
