Lopsided results a feature at KGC on Sunday

ROUND one of the Sealing Solutions Sunday League, had the format betterball matchplay. Although points earned do not always reflect the keenness of the match, somewhat lopsided results occurred in the opening game – Mr. Delivery (19) and the Motley Crew (2).

This was similarly so in the final game – C-pac (17) and SABAT (0). In-between Lenong and the Golf Shop were evenly matched at 9 points apiece.

Melvin Haai posted a net 67 to claim best net overall in the Saturday Rhodes Medal.

Ysuf Kana was first in the A division on 69, Peter Salo the runner-up on 70. Kariem Anderson was first in the B division on 69, Bernie Turton being the runner-up on 74.

Andries Kori carded the best gross on the day, a 71. Buk Venter followed on 73 with Eddie Barkhuizen a shot back on 74.

Nick Sonqishe returned 23 points to comfortabl­y claim the Friday Sun Flamingo Niner. Wade King and Zayhied Sulliman were second and third, each on 20 points. Ramon Barlow and Bernie Turton were fourth and fifth, each on 19 points.

Peter Jansen (23), Nico Ross (20) and Machiel Cronjé (19) were the top three players in the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner. Each posted a six pointer, as did Herbie Woodbridge, Willie Uys and Kevin Wakeford.

The Wednesday Konica Minolta Business League, saw, in the Team event it was “Horses for Courses” with Nigel Page riding Kevin Collings first on 46 betterball points by a count-out.

PA Walter Africa, represente­d by Stephan Le Roux and Christo Swanepoel, were second on the same score. OBC Chicken, represente­d by Harry Welham and Pieter Roux du Toit, were third on 44 points.

In the individual section it was Stephan Le Roux (38), John O’connell (36) and Pieter Roux du Toit (35).

The Coming Week Tomorrow it is the KWV Powerplay Niner and on Friday the Sun Flamingo Niner followed by the snowball draw. On Saturday there is an Individual Stableford.
