STEPHEN Musi and Henry Motsabi, Morolong labourers, were having a friendly game of cards, when something got Stephen’s monkey up, and he snatched up the cards and two bob which belonged to Henry. A row erupted and the two were arrested. Each gambler was fined 10 shillings each or 10 days’ hard labour.

EVERY student sent to school yesterday has been accommodat­ed. But that was a near thing. Far more students answered the first roll of the New Year than had been expected. The stock of admission at the Kimberley School Board was soon used up as officials tried to squeeze in all the pupils.
