FNB distributing masks to Sassa beneficiaries
SOUTH African Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiaries who collect their social grants at a FNB branch in the Northern Cape will also receive face masks.
The masks are being distributed through 200 FNB branches in provinces, which include the Northern Cape, Gauteng, Western Cape, Limpopo, Kwazulu-natal, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Free State. The allocation in each branch is dependent on the volume of beneficiaries per branch, however each branch has been allocated between 400 to 1 000 masks to distribute during the days that grants are paid out.
Lee-anne van Zyl, CEO of FNB Points of Presence, said: “Our measures are designed to support the country’s efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 and we are playing our part by prioritising the well-being of banking customers and our front-line employees. Our branch consultants distribute the masks on a first-come, firstserve basis while beneficiaries are queuing to make withdrawals.
“We will continue to provide all necessary support to customers and encourage all to ensure social distancing when using banking infrastructure, and where possible to use digital channels for some transactions. We are committed to providing essential services in a manner that prioritises the safety of our employees and customers,” Van Zyl added.
In recent months, FNB has increased levels of hygiene at its branches to improve safety and all its front-line employees in branches are equipped with sanitisers and masks in adherence to regulations.
