No need to panic over school placement – Education dept
THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Education has urged parents who applied for school placement for next year not to panic as the department is still in the process of verifying applications.
Department spokesperson Geoffrey van der Merwe said parents will receive a system-generated SMS by mid-december to confirm whether their application has been approved.
“The department can confirm that the process of verifying all admission supporting documents continues for some schools for the 2021 school academic year. The department has already started to issue system-generated SMS to parents and legal guardians on the outcome of the admission applications.
“We would further like to emphasise
that the system-generated SMS will be issued up to December 15, 2020. So there will be no need to panic if you don’t receive an SMS during this week,” said Van der Merwe.
He said parents will also be afforded an opportunity to appeal the outcome of their applications.
“Parents will be required to log on to the www.ncdoeadmissions.org website to either accept or decline the placement.
“Appeals must be lodged with the Office of the MEC within seven days from receiving a notification from the school. Appeals will only be considered if they are based on incorrect or unfair application criteria as set by the Head of Department (HOD). Parents will be notified on the outcome of their appeal after December 15, 2020.
“We depend on the co-operation of all parents and legal guardians for the successful start of the 2021 school academic year. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we fulfil the constitutional right of every learner in the Province, which is the right to education,” Van der Merwe said.
