Can the Ronaldo honeymoon be over already?

- MATTHEW MARCUS IN CAPE TOWN

MANCHESTER United and Cristiano Ronaldo’s honeymoon is over already.

It was all moonlight and roses when the former darling of Old Trafford returned on transfer deadline day.

You know what they say, if you let something go and it comes back to you, it was yours all along.

And Red Devils fans were gushing like a man with the prettiest wife at home.

They couldn’t wait to see him and brag how great he is and they had to wait until Saturday against Newcastle for them to finally consummate their reunion.

And it was fireworks and everyone felt the earthquake as Ronaldo scored twice on his second debut. Oh it was magical – orgasmic even.

But then some young guy, or rather Young Boys, ruined everything on Tuesday night.

Eish. After all that walking on sunshine since Saturday, Young Boys 2 Man U 1 had them all on bended knee.

Manne were talking about the treble at the weekend. On Tuesday night, it was Ole Out again.

There was always a question about Ronaldo’s return – whether he was really what United needed to break their four-year trophy drought.

But United have the same failings as they did before he arrived.

If the Red Devils are to make this marriage work again, they will have to work on their faults as a team.

Having Ronaldo to parade to other teams is just not going to floor the big boys, especially not after Young Boys.
