THE GALESHEWE police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a bullet was apparently fired through the bedroom window of a house in Stock N’ Stock.

Ward 5 councillor Mncedisi Nolitye said that no one was injured during a shooting that took place in Stock N’ Stock last weekend.

“Details of the incident are sketchy but it is believed that it relates to a housebreaking incident. The person staying there is from out of town … The robber apparently did not manage to steal any items,” said Nolitye.

The owner of the house where the bullet was found stated that her child and two grandchildren, who usually sleep with her in the bedroom, found the bullet when it fell to the ground after they removed the bed covers.

“The bullet entered through the window and ricocheted against the wall.”

She added that no one was at home at the time of the incident and she was also not aware of any shooting incidents.

“The one child is deaf and she could have been seriously injured if she never heard the gunshot. I am relieved that they were at my mother's place and I was in Kuruman, as my aunt is sick.

“I am, however, a bit worried that something like this might happen again.”

Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the Galeshewe police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property following the incident.

“It is alleged that the bullet went through the window of the property. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage,” said Tawana.

He indicated that the incident is believed to have happened over the weekend, between Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday.

“The police were alerted about the matter on March 27 at approximately 3pm. No injuries were reported and no one has been arrested. The investigation continues.”
