RITCHIE-BORN Godwin Taweni, the multi-talented model and author, celebrated the launch of his second book, “Called 2 Be Different”, in a grand event held at the Jubilee Diamond City Church hall in Kimberley on February 17.

The highly-anticipated blacktie affair drew a crowd of 70 attendees, including guests from Ritchie, Kimberley, Hopetown, Barkly West and Johannesburg.

The event was impeccably timed, taking place the day before Taweni’s 23rd birthday.

Taweni, originally hailing from Ritchie, made the bold move to Johannesburg in pursuit of his dreams. His journey, filled with trials and triumphs, now unfolds in his 79-page book.

“Called 2 Be Different” chronicles his life experiences, offering valuable lessons learned during times of adversity.

Targeted at young people, especially those seeking empowerment, Taweni’s latest work delves into his teenage years and the transition into young adulthood.

This second edition complements his debut book, which focused on his childhood and adolescence.

The 22-year-old author previously published his debut book under the same title in 2019.

Taweni said that his first book has done very well and has already received an award under the empowerment category.

Speaking at the launch, Taweni expressed his pride in launching his second book at such a young age: “I am proud to be launching my second book now at the age of 22. I grew up in poverty, and everything I’ve achieved thus far is fuelled by an unwavering hunger for success.”

His impressive resume includes roles as a professional model, an award-winning author, a pageant judge, a model coach, a motivational speaker, a conference host and speaker, a talent scout, and a pageant director. Additionally, he founded the Face of Ritchie beauty pageant.

In 2020, Taweni established his own company, “Godwin Taweni Connections”, with a mission to combat unemployment and create job opportunities.

An inspiring influencer”, Taweni’s influence extends beyond the written word, as he has graced various media platforms, including TV, radio, magazines, and newspapers.

Taweni also expressed his passion for inspiring fellow authors in the Northern Cape

His dedication to reaching young people has led him to go the extra mile by engaging with schools directly. Taweni seeks opportunities to address learners from Grades 7 to 12, believing that this interaction is crucial for spreading his message of hope.

“By connecting with learners,” Taweni explained, “I can not only share my book but also make a meaningful impact. These children, often coming from challenging backgrounds, are the ones who need encouragement the most.”

Taweni’s life mission is clear: to inspire, empower, build, encourage, and effect positive change among his generation, the youth, and the broader South African community.

His book has garnered praise from fans, who consider it a mustread for every young person seeking motivation and hope.
