Stage set for ANC manifesto launch
THE ANC in the Northern Cape has indicated that the stage is set for the party’s manifesto launch and the Mayihlome Rally that will take place at the Galeshewe Stadium tomorrow.
ANC provincial secretary Deshi Ngxanga, speaking at a media briefing, said that ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula would deliver the keynote address at the event.
“Comrade Mbalula will, among others, highlight the six priority points in our 2024 election manifesto and provide firm perspectives into the electoral landscape. He will be received by a 20 000-strong crowd, which is a show-of-strongforce display with over 90% of our supporters in the Sol Plaatje sub-region,” said Ngxanga.
He added that the ANC provincial chairperson, Dr Zamani Saul, will address the crowd on the party’s expectations for the upcoming elections.
“Our chairperson will pronounce our provincial electoral target and steadfast determination in safeguarding the incumbency of the Anc-led provincial government at the polls.
“Our provincial chairperson has been steering the ship in ensuring a highly successful event, emboldened by our electoral machinery that took off since the hosting of our provincial elections strategy workshop that took place in June 2023.”
Ngxanga said that all preparations are at an advanced stage and the party’s supporters are ready to come out in full force.
“Extensive canvassing has been rolled out throughout the areas we are targeting and the build-up activities, led by the ANC leadership in Frances Baard, including the leagues, will continue until Friday, March 1.
“Our volunteers are our trusted ground forces at the forefront of the electoral battleground and will continue to be our source of inspiration, as demonstrated in our build-up activities.”
Ngxanga added that the event will also portray the party’s support for Palestine.
“While we celebrate 112 years since the founding of the ANC, we will spare a thought for the thousands of lives lost in Palestine at the hands of a murderous apartheid Israeli regime. We will fly the Palestinian flag in a display of our unwavering support, making a clarion call for an end to the genocide and freedom for Palestine.”
