SALDANHA – A much loved Grade 1 teacher of Middelpos Primary died after contracting Covid-19 and developing serious complications.

Mzwandile Sixholo, the school’s principal, told

on Tuesday the death of Funeka Kolisi (54) was a shock and a great loss for the school, as the learners were very fond of her.

He said she was a “very kind and loving person, a friend and a parent to the children.”

The school is grateful for the many condolence messages sent by community members and parents, Sixholo said.

“Please keep Ms Kolisi’s family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time,” he said.

The principal also told Weslander a special memorial service for the teacher would be held at the school on Wednesday (12 August).

“Many people wanted to attend the service, but unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we could allow only 50 people.”
