Let’s Play competition is off

District Mail - - SKOLE SCHOOLS -

The monthly DistrictMail/ SuperSport Let’s Play competition for 2020 has been cancelled.

This follows a year in which all school sports were cancelled, including all provincial and national competitions.

Eduard Rosenstrauch, media spokesperson for the SuperSport-run competition, stated the cancellation was unfortunate and the monthly winners for 2020 would still receive a small hamper.

It was initially hoped the competition would still reach a conclusion this year, but the lengthy lockdown has resulted in almost all sports events entirely cancelled this year.

“The competition will pick up again in 2021,” Rosenstrauch said. “Hopefully all school sports will be up and running again in the new year.”

DistrictMail has been in partnership with SuperSport in the competition for more than 10 years.

Every month a youngster excelling in their field of sport is selected as monthly winner, and at the end of the year all winners are hosted at a ceremony where they are handed hampers, and an overall winner for the year is selected.
