Welcome Spring together with family and friends at the second annual Baleia Wines Mountain Bike Challenge along with a Trail Run– scheduled to take place on Saturday, 9 September, from the Baleia Wines just outside Riversdale in the Western Cape. The Wine Maker, Abraham de Klerk, is not only an enthusiast­ic wine maker and surfer, but also an avid mountain biker who will join the Baleia Wines MTB Challenge. The Baleia Wines team is looking forward to hosting the second mountain bike event from their winery and cellars. There are three races to choose from; the 88 km race will start first at 8:00 (R200 entry fee), the 40 km event will start at 8:15 (R140 entry fee) and the 19 km race will start at 8:30 (R80 entry fee). The trail run will cover a distance of 12 km and will start and finish at Baleia Wines Cellar. The race will start at 9:00 at a R100 entry fee per person. Registrati­on for both the trail run and mountain bike event can be done on Friday (8 September) and early on Saturday morning at Baleia Wines Cellar. Darran Colquhoun, who has quadripleg­ia, will raise funds with a bike wash station, while there will be prizes for the winners and medals for all finishers, with spot prizes also up for grabs.
