INTERVIEW Pierre Martin Bos / Managing Director of FCA SA

Corsaro – the corsair – is a naval term given to an armed private ship doing naval duty on behalf of a nation or state. It’s a promise that this new Riva yacht, with her aggressive and irrepressible soul, has the build quality not found in any other yacht

Riva’s new 100’ Corsaro is a beautiful flybridge yacht that comes in at just under the 30-metre mark. The crisp, clean and timeless lines so typically Riva, natural forms and a sleek, sporty silhouette are seamlessly integrated into her majestic character.

A prominent black slit – running almost from bow to stern – shapes the main deck windows from the master suite up forward to the main saloon near the aft. It’s a unique design feature which has become synonymous with Riva’s range of yachts. The large swathes of almost impenetrable glazing lend character to the hull and superstructure, contributing in no small part to its aesthetic impact and affording those aboard unparalleled sea views, whilst also drawing natural light into the interior.

The Corsaro’s exterior and interiors are designed by the famous Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta of Officina Italiana Design, along with input by Ferretti’s Product Strategy Committee, and special emphasis was placed on the large expanses of tinted windows to match the unique form of the hull. The yacht has a futuristic, yet timelessly classic look that works in beautiful synergy with Riva’s classic style of yachts that simply do not age like others.

It also features plenty of alfresco areas aboard where owners can enjoy entertaining guests in ultimate style and sophistication. The outside lounging and socialising spaces on the 100’ Corsaro are truly superb. The spacious top deck features loungers, two seating/eating areas and a bar, as

well as the upper helm. There is also a delightfully secluded foredeck seating and lounging area, recessed into the forward superstructure.

A lounge area forward of the sun pad is an ideal space for luxuriating with stunning ocean vistas. A second, innovative outside dining area on the aft deck leads down to a substantial beach club with a hydraulic swim platform that is lowered into the water to allow easy access to the ocean and a variety of water toys stowed in the stern.

Riva, known for its flawless joinery, once again inscribed the standard for craftsmanship with the level of detail on display on the Corsaro. The use of polished marine grade stainless steel and woodwork is beautiful, impeccable and extensive throughout the saloon. The interior is almost a masterpiece within a masterpiece, bearing the signature touch of the masters of Italian design. Like all Riva superyachts, this 100-footer is fully customisable and allows owners to select materials and finishes to match their unique taste from the Riva selection.

The Corsaro’s magnificent main deck extends right out to the gunwales on both sides, thanks to the wide-body design. Large windows ensure a terrific outlook and immerse the area with generous amounts of natural sunlight, making the master suite particularly bright and lavishly comfortable.

Riva’s luxurious Corsaro superyacht also has four further guest suites, and sleeps up to 10 in total, plus extensive and luxurious crew accommodations. The bridge is in a raised pilothouse, connected directly to the galley and crew quarters, all of which are entirely separate from the owner and guest areas. So, the crew can go about their professional business with a minimum disturbance to those on board.

The 100’ Corsaro is an immensely capable and fast superyacht, so smooth and quiet that you can cruise all day at well over 20 knots – undisturbed and in unparalleled comfort. With twin MTU 16V 2000 M96 engines, it has a top speed of 26 knots, and cruises comfortably at 23 knots.

Taking up where other legendary Riva yachts have left off, the 100’ Corsaro forges ahead in the wake of her illustrious forebears, with a bewitching fusion of comfort and performance, technology and design, safety and style. For those with an appreciation for Riva’s brand values, the Corsaro can be had for around R145,000,000 excluding extras. A 25% deposit is required upon ordering the yacht, with progress payments during the construction period.
