-

➧ 500ml (2c) lukewarm water

➧ 5ml (1t) sugar

➧ 1 x 10g packet instant yeast

➧ 1kg bread flour + extra if needed

➧ 5ml (1t) salt

TO FINISH

➧ 15ml (1T) butter

TO SERVE

➧ butter

➧ grated cheese or spread of choice

Grease an enamel or oven proofbowl with oil (the bowl should be able to fit in the airfryer).

1 Put 125ml (½c) of the water in a jug. Add the sugar and yeast to the jug and whisk. Set aside for 15 minutes or until a frothy layer form on top of the liquid.

2 Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the middle. Add the yeast mixture and the rest of the water and mix with a fork until a sticky dough starts forming.

3 Tip the dough onto a flour strewn surface and knead for 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic – add more flour if the dough is too sticky.

4 Shape the dough into a ball. Put the dough into a clean bowl, cover with a tea towel and leave on a warm place to rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.

5 To finish Remove the dough from the bowl, knead lightly, shape into a ball and place into the greased bowl. Cover with the tea towel again and set aside to rise for another 30 minutes.

6 Preheat the airfryer to 200°C (about 2min). Put the bowl with the dough into the airfryer basket or onto the lower rack and bake for 25-30 minutes.

7 Butter the top of the bread and bake for another 5 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

8 To serve Carefully remove the bread from the bowl and leave to cool on a wire rack. Slice and serve with butter and grated cheese or spread of your choice.
