WOULD you like to cre­ate your own species of fish and other sea crea­tures and watch them come to life? You can – at Sketch Aquar­ium, one of the ex­cit­ing ac­tiv­i­ties at Fu­ture Park, the ex­hi­bi­tion now on at the V&A Wa­ter­front in Cape Town and brought to you by DRUM and its sis­ter mag­a­zines, Huisgenoot and YOU.

Sketch Aquar­ium fea­tures a mas­sive vir­tual tank where fish and other sea crea­tures that visi­tors colour in come to life. The an­i­mals re­act to hu­man touch and one an­other, and tap­ping on the vir­tual bag of food will have them com­ing in closer to feed.

When you ar­rive at Fu­ture Park you’ll re­ceive three colour­ing-in pic­tures to use at the Sketch Aquar­ium.

Step 1 Choose a sea crea­ture from your colour­ing-in pic­tures and colour it in.

Step 2 Have it scanned.

Step 3 Watch it swim around in the vir­tual aquar­ium, in­ter­act­ing with other fish. Touch it to see it re­act, or tap on the vir­tual bag of food to see it hav­ing a bite.

This ac­tiv­ity boosts cre­ative and ex­pres­sive skills, in­stils re­spect for di­ver­sity and pro­motes an in­ter­est in tech­nol­ogy.

If you run out of sea crea­tures to colour in, ad­di­tional packs of three colour­ing-in pic­tures are avail­able at R10 each.
