DRUM - - Ed's Note -

A teacher stood in front of his class, holding a R50 note, and asked the learners: “Who wants this R50?”

Everyone raised their hands except one learner, who stood up, walked to the teacher and took the R50. This teaches us that we live in a world where ambitious people are good at identifying their needs and dreams but are too lazy to grab them.

The learner who rose from the seat is an example of the few go-getters who don’t only raise their hands but work hard to realise their dreams. The learner took the opportunity to claim R50, while others were waiting for the teacher to decide who should get it.

The teacher can be likened to life – it gives us opportunities every day, but we frequently fail to seize them.

We don’t have to wait for opportunities to knock on our door, we must explore them to achieve success. MALPHIA HONWANE, EMAIL
