CONGO’S CONFED CUP CHAMPS

DRUM - - Sportsbuzz -

SUPERSPORT UNITED’s ambitions for lifting the CAF Confederation Cup were dashed when TP Mazembe beat the local team 2-1 on aggregate to claim victory.

TP Mazembe, from the DRC, systematically kept the local team on their toes with a committed defense.

This is their third continental trophy in three years – a streak they’re understandably proud of.

The game wasn’t without its fair share of drama, though, as each team had a player red-carded in the last 10 minutes of the game.

TP Mazembe’s KABASO CHONGO was sent off to the changing rooms after two yellow cards, a decision he didn’t take kindly to as he flipped his middle finger to the Supersport side on his way out.

Supersport’s Thuso Phala was also shown a straight red for a dangerous tackle.
