If a worker is em­ployed for more than 24 hours per month their em­ployer must regis­ter them with the Un­em­ploy­ment In­surance Fund (UIF). UIF con­sists of a 2% con­tri­bu­tion of the em­ployee’s to­tal monthly salary – the em­ployer pays 1% of this and the em­ployee the other 1%.
