PLAY FOR YOUR COUNTRY

DRUM - - ED'S NOTE -

I always feel disappointed when players selected to represent the country complain about bonuses before even playing. What more motivation do these players want? Is it not a national honour and pride to represent the country? Wearing those gold and green jerseys ought to be motivation enough.

I played high-school and tertiary-level sport – rugby, soccer, cricket, basketball, tennis – but unfortunately l never made it nationally, the best l could do was to play at provincial level.

l want to take this opportunity to wish the Proteas, Bafana and all the teams participating in World Cup sporting codes well (Under pressure, 6 June).

Remember, you’re not only playing to increase your bank balances – you’re representing all South Africans, who are behind you.

Good luck, and make us proud. MCDIVETT KHUMBULANI TSHEHLA, HALFWAY HOUSE
