Celeste takes on the USA

DRUM - - OUT AND ABOUT - BY QHAMA DAYILE & LAVERN DE VRIES

SHE’S the queen of Mzansi’s comedy scene – and now the USA has had a taste of CELESTE NTULI. The comedienne flew South Africa’s flag high at the Laugh Factory, a famous comedy club in Hollywood, and the Essence Festival in New Orleans, where she had the audiences in stitches. “My material relates to everyone,” Celeste said ahead of her trip.

“I don’t particularly talk about something that happens to Zulus or South Africans, I talk about black women’s issues and that’s what the Essence Festival is all about,” she said.

It wasn’t all work and no play, however. Celeste explored the best of what the cities have to offer and bumped into comedian GEORGE LOPEZ and singer KENNY LATTIMORE. Yasss, girl!
