MRS SIMPSON'S
BEST FOR Comforting, classic cooking in an eclectic space. FOOD While there isn't a very large menu, it is tastefully put together with deliciously different items, from juicy black snails in a garlic gorgonzola sauce for starters, to a fresh deboned trout stuffed with almonds, breadcrumbs, a hint of garlic and lemon butter sauce for mains. For the not so hungry, there are light meals of smoked trout fillet or traditional Cape bobotie. A decadent pudding of hot chocolate torte served with a chocolate cream sauce is a fitting finalé. DRINKS Choose wine from a selection displayed or simply ask for some recommendations. SERVICE Cheerful and friendly staff. AMBIENCE There is a warm and friendly buzz to the place. Mrs Simpson's has a wonderfully exciting and busy interior decorated with loads of memorabilia showcasing its namesake the late Duchess of Windsor, Mrs Wallis Simpson. (AM)
