BEST FOR Lazy family afternoons filled with delicious Italian fare. FOOD Marco Mauri, Italian cheese- and gelatomake­r of note, and his family open their farm for lunches starring his authentic Italian products. Pizzas are divine topped with Marco's melty mozzarella. Order a platter of home-made cheeses and cured meats and a freshly picked leafy salad for the table. On Sundays, mama cooks the sort of northern Italian meal she'd serve to her family. Try pizzoccher­ie: buckwheat pasta with potatoes, cheese, spinach and sage butter, or vitello tonnato, slices of cold veal dressed with tuna-flavoured mayonnaise. Then there’s crispy breaded veal cutlets and house-made tagliatell­e with salmon and cream. End with gelato in fabulous Italian flavours like tiramisu and pistachio. DRINKS Not licensed, but there are good fresh juices available. SERVICE A warm welcome from the family. AMBIENCE The farm setting is relaxed and peaceful, with picnic tables scattered about. (CP)
