Second time's a charm for sommelier Moses Magwaza

estaurant Mosaic sommelier Moses Magwaza has won the Wine Service Award for the second year running at the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Moses is constantly honing his craft. His journey as a sommelier continues as he sharpens his skills and expands his knowledge. Over and above the training he received from his former mentor at Restaurant Mosaic, renowned French sommelier Germain Lehodey (also a winner this year; see below), he has travelled abroad and explored the Cape winelands. A graduate of the Cape Wine Academy (CWA) and the International Wine Centre (IWC), Moses is currently completing his Level 3 at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), a British organisation that is regarded as one of the World’s leading providers of wine education.

His labours have yielded fruit: Moses is now leading the Mosaic cellar team as master of one of the biggest wine cellars in South Africa, with more than 5500 different local and international labels.

Says Eat Out judging convenor Margot Janse, "The combination of Moses's incredible wine knowledge and perfectly in-tune guest relations make for a very impressive service."
