THE WEIRD, WONDERFUL WORLD OF JEREMY SCOTT

Elle (South Africa) - - FASHION SPECIAL -

Never one to shy away from a shock factor, Jeremy’s sent some seriously fantastical, wild-child fashion down the runway, true to his design mission of transforming low-brow, popular culture into high-end fashion. Here are some of the most hysteria-causing moments:

THE PAPER DOLL SHOW

Jeremy sent models down the runway as actual paper dolls, complete with paper tabs and cardboard accessories. The only thing that could top this was the invitation to his show, which was said to come in the form of pill boxes prescribed by

‘Dr Moschino’.

THE SMOKIN’ SHOW

If anyone knows how to stick to a narrative, it’s Jeremy. For his A/W16 Moschino show, the theme was cigarettes (no, we aren’t kidding) and showed singed frocks decorated in cigarette burns with actual smoke coming out of them. Talk about fashion burnout!

THE JACKIE O AS A SPACE ALIEN SHOW The theory goes that Marilyn Monroe was about to go public with the news that aliens do indeed exist. President Kennedy, however, was having none of this and had her assassinated. For A/W18, Jeremy wondered: ‘What if Jackie O was the alien?’ and created his beauty look in interesting shades of blue, green and pink.

THE WINDEX SHOW

Jeremy infuses whimsy into everything he does. A designer made for the age of Instagram, he based his entire S/S16 collection on a trip to the carwash that included cleaning products as his must-have accessories.
