ICE-CREAM, YOU SCREAM…
Eish Kream, Durban
It’s soft serve that looks like spaghetti, with a top-form name and close proximity to the beach. What could be more summer than that? The multi-coloured, spindlystring ice-cream is literally the most fun-looking and mouthwatering thing we’ve seen in a while. Plus it comes in almost every flavour, from Sweet Cream and Lime to trendy Charcoal. It had us shedding Unicorn Tears, if we’re honest.
Hannah McClean (Han-Made – get it?) has PE locked into her ice-cream tubs and cakes, which can only be described as pure joy. A lover of both classic flavours and experimentation, Hannah’s successfully integrated craft beer, chocolate and citrus in one scoop and is constantly adding more. We suggest you try them all by signing up to her monthly ice-cream club subscription, which means you’ll get three 600g tubs delivered to your door every month.
Yococo dairy-free ice-cream, Johannesburg
Serving up punchy flavours and black girl magic, Yococo is wholesome vegan ice-cream at it’s best. Hell, it’s just ice-cream at its best! We’re here supporting the idea that healthy can be fun too and for the outlet’s savvy founder, Sinenhlanhla Ndlela. You can find tubs of this artificial-, dairy- and guilt-free happiness in health stores and vegan food festivals across the country.
Unframed, Cape Town
Here, the ice-cream’s as cool as the people who eat it. Available in both vegan and dairy, this almost-missable little spot promises to unveil 25 new flavours this summer, including Raspberry Beetroot Sorbet and Blue Spirulina. We suggest you go all the way and get its fivescoop Tasting Flight ice-cream platter. £
