WHAT TO DO TODAY

Change can be daunting, but you can do it – one decision at a time.

SIMPLE SWAPS:

Take some time to observe your food choices and try swapping your most popular processed snack for a whole one.

CREATE A NIGHT-TIME ROUTINE.

Pick one to three small activities that will help you wind down without screen time or distracted snacking, and set a time every night to do them. Try ambient noise, meditation or list-making to quieten the mind and a calming herbal tea or a short stretching routine to relax the body. Experiment to find what works for you and be patient – bad habits are hard to break and good ones are hard to start.

PLAN AHEAD:

If we automated our way into this dilemma, then perhaps automation can help us find our way out of it. Most Android smartphones have smart settings for adjusting your phone’s wifi and sound behaviour at home, at work or when plugged into specific devices. The latest iOS update has a ‘do not disturb’ mode and other settings to help you limit your screen time.
