The Regal Retreat
If you loved TheCrown, the Netflix drama about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, then take a trip to Ely, Cambridgeshire, and visit the city’s cathedral, which was used as the location for the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip, doubling as Westminster Abbey. With its 14th-century octagonal lantern tower and ornately decorated ceiling, the cathedral is truly a wondrous sight. And it’s no stranger to the small – and big – screen, as it’s also featured in the King’sSpeech and Elizabeth:TheGoldenAge. but there’s much more to the city to enjoy: embark on Ely’s eel trail, named after the fish found in the city’s marshland – the route takes in around 18 local attractions, including the Bishop’s Palace, Jubilee Gardens and Quai D'Orsay.
