Not getting enough shut- eye can cause more problems than just nodding off at your desk. Studies show that lack of sleep weakens the immune system and can lead to health problems, including high blood pressure, poor memory, depression, heart disease, and diabetes. ‘ Insomnia can be caused by stress and anxiety, as well as eating too late and drinking alcohol,’ says sleep specialist and researcher Professor Kevin Morgan. Exercise daily, avoid caffeine, and ensure your bedroom is dark, airy and has a temperature between 18˚C and 23˚C when you go to bed.
