✱ Dried fruit
‘Although dried fruit is classed as one of your five-a-day and is also a good source of fibre, take it easy as it’s still a source of free sugars,’ says Rob – in other words, the unhealthy kind of sugar.
✱ Dark chocolate
Opt for a dark variety with over 70% cocoa solids, as it has slightly less sugar than milk chocolate. ‘Just a few squares can give you a quick sugar boost to keep you going,’ explains Rob. ‘Cocoa is also a rich source of magnesium.’
Just a handful is all it takes to keep you powering through, and granola has the benefit of fibre-rich oats and dried fruits. However, it is sweetened with honey, so don’t go overboard.
