✱ Dried fruit

‘Although dried fruit is classed as one of your five-a-day and is also a good source of fibre, take it easy as it’s still a source of free sug­ars,’ says Rob – in other words, the un­healthy kind of sugar.

✱ Dark choco­late

Opt for a dark va­ri­ety with over 70% co­coa solids, as it has slightly less sugar than milk choco­late. ‘Just a few squares can give you a quick sugar boost to keep you go­ing,’ ex­plains Rob. ‘Co­coa is also a rich source of mag­ne­sium.’

✱ Gra­nola

Just a hand­ful is all it takes to keep you pow­er­ing through, and gra­nola has the ben­e­fit of fibre-rich oats and dried fruits. How­ever, it is sweet­ened with honey, so don’t go over­board.
