EDITOR ’s LETTER
Hello! With us fast approaching the middle of the year, it’s normal to feel a little frantic or overwhelmed. But did you know that your to-do list might actually be the thing that’s slowing you down and raising your stress levels? Experts say that’s because of something called the Zeigarnik effect, which causes us to fixate on the items that we didn’t get to, rather than focusing on the jobs we ticked off. The solution? Making an ‘it’s done’ list. Not only will it give you a sense of accomplishment, it will lessen that nagging guilt feeling. Win-win!
And that’s just one small way that you can cut stress and carve out some extra time for yourself. With all the time you’ll save by not agonising over your ever-growing to-do list, you’ll be able to tackle one of our art-project crafts (p91) or throw together the perfect winter weekend menu for your next dinner party (p78). Or, if you’re looking for something to do that’s just for you, turn over to p47 where face-yoga expert Danielle Collins shows you how you can exercise your face in just two minutes a day, and she promises it’ll leave your skin younger looking (you’ll thank us later!).
