Bang on budget
Although Jayne’s home has changed its look several times, she’s always worked to a tight budget. She’s accumulated lots of DIY tools and is happy to do her own decorating, furniture painting and small wallpapering jobs. She laid the laminate flooring in her bedroom herself and has put flat-pack furniture together, too. She even made the wooden coffee table in the living area. ‘ Whatever the task, I’ll dig out information or a video online and then just have a go,’ she reveals.
Whenever Jayne shifts away from a particular design, she’ll sell the items she no longer wants, so there’s money to replace them with something new. She bought a second-hand drinks trolley recently. ‘ It looks great in my living room, but it’s definitely a trend right now, so when I get fed up with it, I’ll put it up online for sale,’ she says.
